Liz Truss was always crackers (I worked with her for six months in 2012).
But she wasn't completely delusional. It's quite sad really. A lot of Tory MPs who backed her knowing she wasn't remotely equipped should be deeply ashamed.

that has always perplexed me. the MP's who made Truss leader, were they fooled by her, or understood how bad she would be but rationalised making her leader despite her lack of talent could be contained & some other mythical attributes would work for the party?

From what I can remember that leadership contest went to the 100,000 or so party members and they preferred her to the brown man who got the job later on anyway when no-one opposed him, i like to think of it as their guess who's coming to downing street moment

didn't realise the tories had embraced this ridiculous self defeating let the party members vote for the parliamentary leader model... in that case i can only put it down the Monty python punchline. we gave the job to the woman with the biggest tits!! or of course the racism in the shires.

Like Corbyn, its the MPs fault for putting them on the shortlist, though. Incredibly short-sighted on both cases.

disagree re Corbyn history will be much kinder to him than starmer truss in fact any of the party leaders in the past couple of decades. but the concept of letting the rank & file select a parliamentary leader has a proven record of failure well beyond the UK
